Do you dream about having precious photos of your newborn that you can look back on for years to come? Do you wonder how it will be possible to get yourself organized to get to a photography studio within the first two weeks of your newborn's life? There's so much going on when a new baby arrives...wouldn't it be nice if there was a newborn photographer that would come directly to your home?
Getting newborn photos taken doesn't have to be difficult or cause you any anxiety. My professional services include travel to your home, along with everything required for the shoot, and you will receive a set of professional newborn photos of the same high quality that you would expect from a studio environment. All you have to do is supply the baby!
I have been honing my photography skills over more than two decades, and my work has been published in the Georgia Straight, International Garden Photographer of the Year 2018, and Canadian Wildlife Federation Calendar. Additionally, my works have been on permanent display at the University of British Columbia for over a decade.
It was following a friend's request many years ago that I take a few photos of her newborn, that I uncovered an inner passion to capture these precious moments in a creative way. Since establishing my newborn photography business in 2015, hundreds of families have utilized my services and in fact many have requested that I also capture special moments such as maternity shoots, cake smashes, and family sessions.
I believe in providing an honest representation of my work, and every single photo you see in my newborn gallery was taken in a client's home, not in a studio. This allows you to see for yourself the quality of results that can be achieved in the comfort of your own home.
I have a huge collection of props for you to choose from. You get to select your three main props and colour preferences before your shoot, and then on the day of your session you are free to choose any accessories from the colour schemes you have selected. This allows you to add a personal touch to your photos.
Some benefits of having newborn photos taken in your home
You will be in the most comfortable environment for yourself and your baby, which enhances the final product, as you and baby will be more calm and relaxed, which allows me to capture those adorable sleepy baby moments.
It is my policy to only schedule one session per day, which means there is never a rush to complete the session in a fixed amount of time. You will notice after the birth of your newborn that they often gravitate toward a particular time of day when they are sleepiest. A few days before our scheduled session, you will have the opportunity to choose the preferred time of day based on their sleep pattern. Occasionally, however, a baby’s schedule can be as unpredictable as Vancouver’s weather! This is no cause for panic, as we will take the time needed to get them into that nice, sleepy state for photos, and no one will feel rushed.
If you have other children, they can still have their nap, go out and play, or maintain their schedule.
Staying at home means you do not need to pack anything for a studio experience.
If the photo package you selected includes photos of parents with baby, you can change into your selected outfits and get ready while I continue to take photos of your newborn. That way your clothes, hair, and make-up will be fresh for the photos.
Who benefits most from a home photo session?
First time parents who are still figuring things out and do not want to travel unnecessarily with their baby
Those who have had a complicated delivery and need time to rest and recover
Those who have other young children at home
Those who just want to make life easier!
If you live in the lower mainland, I would be more than happy to try to accommodate your request for a newborn session. There is a very short window when newborn photos can be taken, in which babies are at their most flexible and have a greater tendency to sleep for longer periods, thus allowing for more poses. For this reason, newborn sessions are normally booked before baby arrives.
