FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When should newborn photos be taken?

The best time for newborn photos is from 6-14 days of age. This is when the baby is most easily positioned in those adorable, curled poses, and is more likely to sleep for longer periods of time, allowing for more poses.

When should I book a newborn session?

I highly recommend contacting me during your pregnancy to book a session. Once you are booked, you are guaranteed a photo session during the optimal 6-14 day window. When your baby arrives, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can confirm a date. Sessions usually take place on weekends. I do sometimes have last minute spots available, so don't hesitate to enquire!

How should I prepare for a session?

Once you book a session, I will provide you will a full information package about preparing for your session and answer any further questions you may have.

What do you bring to a session?

I bring my portable studio which includes lighting, backdrops, and a wide assortment of props. This setup is minimal and makes all the difference in being able to achieve consistent results from one client's home to the next. Please don't worry at all if you have a small place; all that is needed is a 5' x 5' area to work.

What areas do you serve?

I am located in Vancouver, BC, and will travel to homes in Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey, Delta, Ladner, Langley, or White Rock for newborn and cake smash sessions. Maternity sessions are typically done at an outdoor park in Vancouver. Please contact me to enquire about other locations. I am happy to travel (within reason) for an additional mileage charge.

What kind of payment do you accept?

I accept payment by e-transfer, cash, or cheque. A $100 deposit is due at the time of booking. The balance is due on the day of the session.

Are props provided for the newborn sessions?

I provide all the props and accessories for your session, with many choices for hats, headbands, wraps, blankets, furs, baskets, boxes, and other accessories in a variety of colours for you to choose from. If you have a special item you would like incorporated, I'd be happy to accommodate it. Once your baby arrives, I will provide a link to a gallery of all my available props so you can choose what you would like me to bring to your session. As an added touch, most of the headbands you see in my photos are handmade by me.

*Vaping/Smoking in your home...

I take great care to ensure that the props and equipment I bring from one client's home to the next are clean and as neutral as possible in terms of scent. For this reason, I will not come into your home if you vape or smoke in it, as these smells have a way of permeating my props and equipment and are not easy to get rid of.
